What Are The Daily Habits of Successful People?

Ever wonder what differentiates successful people from the countless others who just scrape by, living from pay check to pay check?
How are successful people different from people who struggle most of their lives, trying to achieve financial freedom?

Are there any daily habits of successful people that makes them rich? If yes, what are these daily habits that you can follow?

Successful people are successful because they use the knowledge they have and apply it in their daily lives in order to be successful.
[For example: Almost everyone knows that exercise is beneficial to their health, yet how many of us exercise regularly?]

Successful people invest in themselves, they equip themselves with the knowledge and empower themselves with the tools to achieve their goals.
Successful people know that time is an invaluable, limited and a non – renewable resource that should not be equated with money. They don’t trade time for time.

The Secret To Success Is Taking Action.

There is no easy way to be successful, no matter how much you know and what your circumstances are, in the end it all comes down to taking action. Motivation & will power are helpful but do not last for long.

The best way to achieve success is to make success a habit.
By creating positive & powerful habits, taking action becomes simpler.

What are the Daily Habits of Successful People?

Daily Morning Routine

Successful people do not wake up each day with the intention to wing it. They create daily routines that help them power through each day. Having a daily morning routine not only sets the tone for the rest of the day, but by repeating a routine over time makes you more efficient and helps create powerful habits. Habits get stronger over time to a point where motivation and will power do not matter.

Do you need motivation or will power to brush your teeth each morning? Imagine if you could make exercise a part of your morning routine and do it long enough that it becomes a habit.

Self Improvement & Development

Successful people are in a continual state of learning and improvement.

Reading: Rather than spending too much time watching T.V, successful people invest time reading extensively. They read to get good at their areas of weakness, get better at their strong points.
Exercise: Successful people realize personal health and well-being is much more valuable than money and they invest the time and money in their well being. When someone asked Richard Branson about his secret for being more productive, Mr. Branson simply replied, “Work Out” [Source: Tim Ferriss: The 4-Hour Body]

Build Valuable Network: There is an African proverb that goes like, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go with people”. Successful people understand the value of building and maintaining valuable and meaningful relationships. Not only do you learn from the experiences of others, it helps you grow your circle of influence.

Wealth Management

Warren Buffet once said, “Wall Street is the only place that people ride to in a Rolls-Royce to get advice from those who take the subway”. Successful people don’t live from paycheck to paycheck but create multiple streams of revenue.

Most people don’t realize that money saved is actually money earned and by making a long term investment you already have 3 sources of revenue.

Daily Habits of Successful People In A nutshell
  1. Invest in self development first and foremost.
  2. Build meaningful and valuable network
  3. Learn to Manage Wealth, generate additional sources of income.

How To Attract Success Using The Law Of Attraction

Law of attraction - exampleI attended a peak performance seminar in September this year.

“I am going to show you how to make money using the law of attraction”, the speaker said. I was preoccupied and though I heard it, it didn’t register then and I had completely forgotten about it until a few days ago.

A friend of mine attended a workshop a couple of weeks later and told me that he experienced a positive outcome and he was able to make money using the law of attraction. He deeply desired to attend the workshop but was short of some cash and he believed that he was going to attend the seminar and visualized himself attending the seminar.

This was the first time I heard of a law attraction success story.

The immediate thought in my head, Really? I can just sit here and think I am wealthy and become rich?

What is Law of Attraction?

Law of attraction basically states that you can bring positive or negative experiences in your life by focusing on positive or negative thoughts. The Law of Attractions works both ways, positive as well as negative.

Is the Law Of Attraction A Marketing Gimmick?

Think & Grow Rich is expounds more on the law of attraction.
There is no fast way to become successful, it takes hard work.

There is a growing interest in the concept of Law of Attraction and there are a lot of books, audio tapes and video DVD’s that you teach you how to use law of attraction to make money, find the perfect soul mate and attract success. There are also many Law of Attraction Success Stories on the internet that I could easily find with a simple google search.

However Law of attraction has received it’s fair share of criticism too. There are those who call it a pseudo-science and say that the effect of Law Of Attraction cannot be measured nor it’s results reproduced.

A lot of people use exaggeration & over simplification to push products related to Law of Attraction to innocent & in need people, people that want to make a change in their lives, people that are willing to try just about anything to change their current situation.

People like you and people like me, who want to have a better life for themselves and for the people they care about.

What about the Law of Attraction Success Stories?

Have you heard of the placebo effect? At the surface, benefits of placebo effect sounds ridiculous because patients are given fake drugs but it produces real results. The extent of placebo effect depends on the expectation of patient receiving the treatment (sound familiar?).

It works because they expect it to work, they believe it to work.

The power of belief should not be under-estimated. In most of the law of attraction success stories that I read, people believed in themselves and got to work just like my friend who was able to make some money on the side to be able to attend the workshop.

How to Attract Success Using The Law Of Attraction?

Ideal Representation of law of attractionLaw of Attraction in essence is a combination of visualization, self- affirmation & positive thinking and most importantly taking action.

Visualize: Define What do you want in life and Why  you want it. Let it give you a sense of direction and purpose. But thinking about it is not enough, write it down. Each morning when you wake up and each night when you go to sleep, read it. Visualize that you already have it. Strengthen your mental map, each day, every day.

Strategize: When you know where you want to be & why you want to be there, getting there is just a matter of putting in efforts, focused effort. I cannot tell you how to do it, that is for you to figure out (not something you expected from Law of Attraction did you?).

I share below a table I created in my earlier post about taking the first step to success but the table below is kind of self explanatory for you to create a strategy. To delve deeper into the topic I invite you to read earlier post.

Creating a strategy to achieve your goal
Creating a strategy to achieve your goal

Take Action: Nothing is going to change unless you make changes in your life. Things will happen if you make them happen. Take all the time you need, but once you’ve made a decision, just go at it.Let the 5 Principles of Getting Things Done guide you.

Self Belief: Have faith in your self and in your abilities. Nothing sabotages one’s effort in personal success than self doubt. Sure you are going to have days when you think you can’t do it, times when you think this is not possible. (When I published this post, I re-read it and thought this is horrible, maybe I should give up and this ain’t my cup of tea, but I am still here aren’t I?)

Believe in your self, believe that you have what what it takes to get through. Find inspiration. Let the stories of people who made it inspire you.

Find inspiration within you. List down all the things you thought you couldn’t do and you did it, no matter how small.

Read it. over and over again.

Tell yourself, you can do it, you have what it takes to do it. Develop self confidence. Stay Positive in your effort. Expect the best to happen and put in your efforts expecting the best to happen.

I believe in the essence of the Law of Attraction, you must believe and then get to work.

Have your experienced Law of Attraction in work for you? What is your take on the law of attraction? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below.

3 Ridiculously Simple Exercise To Exercise Better Self Control.

Angry ManAs I sat back in my chair, I was gasping for breath.

My heart pounded against my rib-cage, wanting to burst open.

I felt my face radiating heat, as a piece of metal does when it has been kept in flame for a while.

My vision was blurred and my hands wouldn’t stop shaking.

I was confused. I wanted to cry , I wanted to be left alone. I wanted to be quiet and say nothing yet at the same time I wanted to get back for being spoken to like that.

Have you ever felt the need to let it all out and hold nothing back?

As a very close friend of mine very nicely put it. “There are assholes everywhere; you just have to realize which one is worth dealing with”.

No matter how good your day has been or how charged up you feel, there will always be that one douche bag that will manage to get under your skin.

The truth is you cannot escape people who want to hold you back, one step you climb on the ladder, there will be 10 people to pull you down. There is nothing that you can do about it or can you?

It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.

Why Should I Care How I React?

Reaction MattersCommon sense dictates that if someone is trying to get under your skin you give it back to them because if you don’t, they are not going to stop. I agree with this line of thinking, however reacting with anger works against you.
How do you react when you unknowingly touch a hotplate?
You immediately take your hand off, you don’t think about it, you don’t have time to think about it. You just do.
Unfortunately that wonderful mechanism that ensures minimal damage to your hand also gets activated it shouldn’t.
I can recollect so many instances when I’ve said some mean things that I later regretted.
But once the damage is done it takes a lot of time and patience to repair.

Reaction means you are not controlling the situation, the situation is in control of you.

What do you think the outcome is going to be when you are not in control?
Reacting to a situation with anger not only make the situation worse, it also has several immediate and long term consequence on your body.
You come across as an immature,  emotionally weak person who lacks self control and is always hyper, waiting to pick a fight.
You don’t have to be a Zen Master or a Saint.
There will be always be people who will keep getting under your skin and you will have to confront them.
When you do, let not anger drive you.

Self Control is not about controlling how we feel, it’s about being in control of how we express our feelings.

It’s natural to lose control and lash out, happens to the best of us.

3 Ridiculously Simple Exercise To Exercise Better Self Control.

1.Being Mindful:

Let us be honest, we tend to get irritated very easily when we are hungry (or is it just me? let me know in the comments section).

“Dude you are really hungry now, be careful or you are going to screw up again”.

This is what I tell myself each time my girlfriend makes me wait for lunch. It does not work 7 times out of 10 but I am really thankful for the 3 times that it does.

Mindfulness in it’s truest essence mean to be aware of your present emotional state.By being mindful of my mental state I become conscious of what I say what I am saying.

The more I practice it the better I become at handling my outbursts.

MeditationMeditation does not mean sitting under a tree for hours in the hopes of achieving self-enlightenment. You can benefit by meditating for  as little as 2 minutes.

I usually meditate for 5 minutes every day as part of my morning ritual.

When things get a little stressful at work I do at 2 min meditation and feel better instantly.

There are a lot of benefits of meditation, one of which is that it improves your ability to work under stress.

Meditation=>Stress=>Reaction. See the connection?

3.Be Happy, Smile Often

Smiling BabyI smile back every time someone smiles at me,instantly, even to complete strangers.

It is amazing the power a simple gesture holds.

Simple act of smiling releases endorphins which are natural pain and stress fighters.

I think that smiling does the exact opposite of being angry. Smiling calms me down I instantly feel better.

When I feel better, I feel calm & in control.

I respond to situations rather than reacting to them.

I hope you’ve actually made it till here and enjoyed reading the post.

It might look to simple but believe me, it works. I’ve tried it, benefited from it and I hope you do to.

Take Responsibility Of Your Life – Because No One Else Will

What does it mean to be responsible for your actions?

Time for a StoryI started working as Help-desk technician in back in 2006. Since our client was a US based MNC I ended up working nights often. Pretty soon I began to hate my working hours.

Even though I did not like working at odd hours, I did nothing to change my present situation. Instead I blamed my dad for not letting me pursue engineering. In truth, as an act of defiance I took a break from college for more than a year and started working in a call center. Later on when things did not work out as planned, I did not want to take responsibility for my decision and found an easy way out by putting the blame on someone else.

Why the Blame Game?

Have you noticed that the people who constantly talk about not being Blame Game - It's Your Fault Not Minehappy with their life would usually have someone else to blame for their current situation. Ironically they are the ones who are “blaming others for not taking responsibility”.

The blame game is seen almost everywhere from politics, government administration, at work and even in our homes. Sometimes it is a defense mechanism to avoid the pain of admitting that you could have done better. Usually it’s our way of justifying to ourselves & others that we did everything we could do and we failed because of something or someone else.

Take responsibility stop blaming others

What if you happen to be in a situation where your life was in danger because you boarded a cab and the driver was totally wasted?
If you were to meet with an accident, would you blame the driver because he was drunk or would you blame yourself because you did nothing when you found out that he was in no condition to drive.

be proactive and take responsibility for your life

No matter what the current situation is as long as you don’t be proactive and take responsibility for your life, you will find it very difficult push yourself to the limit because in your mind there will always be something or someone stopping your from working at your full potential.

I find it very enriching when I hear the life stories of some of my friends who despite the odds never gave up. One common thing that I’ve observed is that while some of them acknowledge that life wasn’t being fair to them they did not stand in a corner and sulk but worked through some genuine obstacles in their way.

When life is hard and unfair it is easy to go into self destruction mode and undo everything you’ve worked. Assuming responsibility for your actions is key to avoid playing the blame game.

I don’t know what you are going through and may be life seems really hard now but it’s not going to change by blaming others (even though you may be right). Don’t let someone else be the cab driver of your life.

Be proactive and take responsibility for your life your life.
